Inside BlueSky’s Maker Space
While online education offers incredible flexibility and personalized learning experiences, we know that some of the best learning happens when students can work hands-on, collaborate face-to-face, and work out ideas together. That’s exactly why we’ve developed our Maker Space—a place where BlueSky students (and teachers) can step away from their screens and dive headfirst into creative projects.
Not Your Average Classroom
Our creative space isn’t your typical classroom. It’s designed around one simple idea—giving students the freedom to create, trying ideas out, and connect. Here’s what makes up this space:
Recording Studio
Whether students dream of hosting their own podcast, recording original music, or just making some weird noises, our professional-grade recording equipment gives them the tools to bring their ideas to life.
The beauty of this setup is that it’s not just about technical skill—though it’s a great place to begin developing some—it’s about giving students a place to share their perspectives and discover their voices.
Cricut Machine
Our Cricut cutting machine has become a favorite among students, who use it to create custom stickers for their laptops, personalized t-shirts, paper crafts, professional-looking posters and more.

3D Printing
3D printing feels like one of those inventions you’d come up with as a kid—“Wait, I can print an action figure?” Yes! Watching a design go from the screen into your hands is a beautiful thing.
Our 3D printer is a standout feature in the Maker Space, and when we installed it toward the end of the school year, students made custom fidgets! For many, it’s their first real introduction to engineering and design thinking—skills that will serve them well no matter what path they choose after graduation.
Virtual Reality
VR is still a newer, less-explored technology, so we thought our BlueSky students should get ahead of the curve and get familiar with it. Our VR headsets open up possibilities that extend beyond entertainment. Students can take virtual field trips to historical sites, explore the human body in 3D, or even create their own virtual environments. It’s not just for video games—it’s technology that can be used for learning.
A Hangout Space
Online school offers many advantages, but we know face-to-face connection is still essential for students. That’s why the final feature of the Maker Space is simple: a place to hang out, eat lunch, and catch up with friends. With comfy couches and kitchenette, students have everything they need to enjoy a social afternoon at BlueSky.
