How I Came to BlueSky
I heard about an art teacher position at BlueSky and did not apply because I thought, “How do you teach art online?!” Another position came up shortly after and I was so curious I just had to apply. It all sounded too good to be true. I accepted the position and felt for the first time like I was let out of a box. The possibilities seemed endless. I’ve never regretted the switch to teaching online. It is so rewarding in so many ways and I feel like it is still too good to be true. I only wish I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard “How do you teach art online?!”

What Makes BlueSky Special to Me
BlueSky offers another option of education for students, especially students who struggle in other settings for various reasons. BlueSky is truly a compassionate school and reaches students in so many amazing ways. The success stories and “thank you’s” from students to staff members say it all. There is so much satisfaction being part of a team that helps students become successful.

My Most Memorable Experience at BlueSky
I had a student take all of my art courses over his time at BlueSky. We worked together almost weekly over the years and got to know each other pretty good. I finally got to meet him in person the day before he graduated from BlueSky. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in teaching.

Education
I graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education K-12. I am also licensed 7-12 in Communications Technology Careers from Bemidji State University.
