My Role at BlueSky
Science teacher and School Board member
How I Came to BlueSky
One of the reasons I wanted to become a teacher is because I knew I wanted to make a difference. My grandmother was also a teacher. She died before I was born, but friends and neighbors would often tell me stories of how she made a difference in their lives and I wanted to carry that on. My grandfather lived with us when I was growing up and he really sparked my desire to teach science. He was very knowledgeable about nature and taught me a lot about plants, animals and soil. I chose BlueSky because it is nontraditional. I wanted to be a part of something innovative, challenging and different.
What Makes BlueSky Special to Me
The staff is very motivated and driven. I like working with people who do what they say they will do. Another important aspect is the students. Our students are very diverse, and I appreciate them all. BlueSky meets the needs of students on many different levels.
My Passions and Hobbies
My family enjoys spending time at the lake. My children and husband ride and race dirt bikes. I prefer to stay on four wheels, so I ride the 4 wheeler. I also own a greenhouse and enjoy gardening.
My Most Memorable Experience at BlueSky
Organizing the field trip to the planetarium at St. Cloud State University. I enjoyed meeting students in person, watching the planetarium show and then looking through the telescopes at the night sky.
