A frustrated student working at home.

Still Looking for the Right Online School Option?

For some students, a traditional school setting isn’t a good learning environment. Whether it’s the teaching style, distractions, or something else, online school may be a better fit.

But, maybe you’ve tried online school and that isn’t working out either. Does your child need extra attention that they aren’t receiving? Oftentimes, programs can’t meet every student’s needs. If you haven’t been happy with your child’s online experience so far, it might be time to consider BlueSky.

What is BlueSky?

BlueSky is an online public charter school that serves students in grades 6-12. Founded in 2000, BlueSky was actually the first state-approved, Minnesota online charter school.

A pioneer in distance learning, BlueSky provides a free, high-quality curriculum. We are proud to offer world-class education to students from all walks of life.

What sets us apart?

Personalized curriculum

There is no “typical” BlueSky student. Thus, there is no singular learning path.

BlueSky students come from all walks of life and have different reasons for needing personalized attention. At BlueSky, students, staff and parents select a program that works best for each individual’s learning style. Every student deserves to learn in a way that fits their unique needs.

Student support

The secret to our success is our unparalleled approach to student support

At BlueSky, you will receive one-on-one attention unmatched by other schools. Upon admission, we pair each student with an advisor, a counselor and a school social worker. This three-person team works with that student until they graduate.

Every BlueSky staff member strives to engage students in learning.

BlueSky students are in frequent communication with teachers via phone, email and text. Our advisors get to know each student and their family. They track academic progress and keep students informed on deadlines and requirements. Our counselors help students plan their time at BlueSky and for life post-graduation. Counselors also guide students as they investigate colleges and universities. Our social workers help with concerns and connect students with resources.

We are only as successful as our students, so we strive to give each BlueSky student the tools to be successful.

Not only are our students supported, our staff is too. The Star Tribune named BlueSky a top workplace in 2022.

Flexible

BlueSky is both flexible and convenient.

Our learning options include full time, supplemental, PSEO and flexible scheduling. For students that need extra help, we offer a part-time, supplemental program. Part-time students take one to three courses while enrolled in their home district.

With access to resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, students are free to work when they’re most productive. Optional field trips and activities also take place.

We also provide flexibility when it comes to semester and trimester scheduling.

Our students include:

  • High-achieving students who want to work at their own pace
  • Students who are parents
  • Students who work full-time
  • Student who are athletes and performers
  • Students who dropped out of school and want to get their diploma
  • Homeschooled students
  • Students with health problems that can’t attend school on a fixed schedule
