My Hometown and “Now” Town
I started my life and grew up in West St. Paul. After college, I taught middle school Science at the same school I attended (which may have gone better had I not been the class clown!). After two years there, I taught in Boulder, Colorado, then moved back to Minnesota and married my husband. We lived in St. Louis Park, then Minnetonka, and finally moved to Plymouth, on the west side of the Twin Cities. We’ve been married 38 years and have three grown children. Two live near us and the other one lives in Milwaukee with our dog, Jack. We still enjoy getting together to play board games and trying to make each other laugh. Laughter is important!
My Passions as an Educator
I spend half of my time teaching Biology and the other half teaching Physics and Chemistry. While I really enjoy science classes (and Bioloy is my favorite!), I don’t think it matters what I teach as long as we are learning something new. Each of us is about much more than one subject or learning topic, and it takes all sorts of skills and abilities to make an interesting human. Learning is fun!
My Passions and Hobbies
I love to learn about all sorts of things. Currently I am fascinated by how each of our brains might work best to learn what we need to, so we can be successful everywhere. When I learn, I use color wherever I can because I‘ve learned that my brain prefers it. I am always looking for tools and strategies we can all use to learn and to complete what we need to.
I enjoy being outside, gardening when the sun is up, and being inside watching scary movies when it goes down. I love dogs, camping in Minnesota State Parks, and solving murder mysteries. I’ve got some mad bakeing skills and can roast perfectly golden brown marshmallows, am a Google Sheets nerd, and I have a lot more hobbies than available time. Let’s go!
