How I Came to BlueSky
BlueSky provided me with my first teaching job in 2006 after I made a career change to teaching. Online education really appealed to me as I was working on my masters degree online and had spent 23 years in IT systems support. I was used to being in front of a computer all day and using technology to communicate with clients all over the world. In 2013 I left BlueSky for six years to gain some teaching experience in traditional brick-n-mortar schools. I returned to BlueSky in 2019 and feel blessed every day to be back here!

My Passions as an Educator
I made a career change to teaching in 2006 to help prepare young people for success in the work world and life and I’m very passionate about that! Career and Technical Education helps students gain strong employability skills. Providing fun and relevant business courses that give students an edge in the marketplace is very rewarding for me. I enjoy finding ways to provide students with real world, experiential learning opportunities and match them up with industry partners who can mentor them and provide internships/apprenticeships.

My Passions and Hobbies
Traveling has been my passion from a young age and I’ve traveled extensively within the US and internationally. Especially fun is taking students on adventures and I have taken students to Italy, France, Spain, England, Thailand and Puerto Rico. I want to see as much of the world as possible and love meeting people from other countries and hope to instill that passion in my students. Baking is another passion, especially artisan breads, and I have a MN Cottage license and side gig bakery out of my home. My community is important to me and I serve on the City Council. Other hobbies include gardening, learning foreign languages, knitting with looms and Norwegian embroidery.
