Principal's Message

We had a wonderful first semester! As a result, I am pleased to congratulate 83 students that made it onto the first semester honor roll (see below). Additionally, we have 29 students that are confirmed to have met their graduations requirements. Way to go graduates and honor roll students!

Spring testing is fast approaching with the upcoming NWEA MAP tests, MCA tests and the ACT. It is important that every student comes prepared and does their best on these assessments. The results from these tests provide detailed information to your child's teachers that helps guide instruction and improve your child's learning. The results also provide you with information on your student's grown and progress. Assessment results are also a primary measure of BlueSky's overall student achievement and are used by our authorizer and the state in determining the effectiveness of our programs. We appreciate your support in helping prepare your student for these important assessments.

We are currently in the process of updating our Inclusive Educational Program Plan and reviewing our mathematics curriculum. In order to gather more input from students, a curriculum survey will be conducted in February. This survey will be given to all BlueSky students and will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. In compliance with BlueSky's survey policy, the survey will be optional and no identifying personal information will be collected. Parents interested in reviewing the survey may contact me at dondich@blueskyschool.org.

I want to personally invite all parents and students to conferences on February 22, 2017. Conferences will be held at our office in West St. Paul from 3:00 - 7:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to meet with teachers, support staff, and other BlueSky families. If you are unable to attend in person, you can make arrangements to meet virtually. We look forward to seeing you there!

As always, thank you for allowing us to work with your student!

Daniel Ondich,
Assistant Director/Principal

BlueSky Stars

The BlueSky advisors have chosen to recognize these students for their hard work and dedication:

"Tyler Wood is being honored as a BlueSky Star due to his success during the fall semester and 'turning around' his school progress. Outside of school, he enjoys fishing, playing football, and playing Xbox. Tyler says, 'I strongly suggest to all students to stay in touch with your teachers on a regular basis. My first 2 years at BlueSky I didn't do that, so I started to fail most my classes and fall behind even further. Just know that teachers are here to help as much as they can, they do a great job of making me feel comfortable while talking over the phone.' Keep up the great work, Tyler!"

- nominated by Nicole Wibstad

"Carissa Dropps is being nominated for her continued hard work and dedication in her third year at BlueSky. 'I chose Bluesky for the flexibility. I'm a night owl, so I function better at night. Because of the flexibility, I can do my homework at night and actually feel like I'm learning better than I have at any other school.' She enjoys avant garde and special effects makeup. I am amazed at Carissa's resilience through the last few years. I have enjoyed working with her and I am proud of her accomplishments."

National School Choice Week

Everyone at BlueSky would like to thank our students and their guardians for choosing and supporting BlueSky! We wouldn't be here without all of you!

Spring Conferences

Save the date for BlueSky's Spring Conferences taking place at our West St. Paul office (33 Wentworth Ave E, Suite 100) on Wednesday, February 22nd from 3-7 pm.

If you plan to attend, please let us know by filling out the Pre-registration Form so that we can plan accordingly.

During conferences, students and their guests are encouraged to participate in CPR training from 5:30 - 6:15 pm. The training will teach the skills needed to perform hands-only CPR and AED use. Let us know you're attending by completing the CPR Training Sign Up Form.

Report Card Mailing Request

S1/Q2 ended on Friday, January 20th and we are underway with the second half of the school year. Report cards were sent out electronically via email to all students and their guardians on January 26th. If you wish to receive a hard copy of a report card in the mail, please complete the Report Card Mailing Request form (if you haven't done so already). By submitting the form, you will receive a report card in the mail after each quarter for middle school students and semester for high school students for the rest of the 2016-2017 school year.

Feed My Starving Children

We had a great turnout for our Feed My Starving Children event on January 27th in Eagan. Students, parents, and staff came together to pack meals for malnourished children throughout the state. Together with other groups, we were able to pack 164 boxes filled with 35,424 meals! Those meals will go on to feed 97 children for a full year. You can find a location to volunteer at using this link.

Give Kids A Smile

Fall Honor Roll

We had 83 students make the Fall Honor Roll list! Of those students featured on the list:

15 had a perfect 4.0 GPA
13 were in middle school
70 were in high school
38 had an A average (45%)
31 were also featured on the Spring 2016 honor roll list
35 were first time students at BlueSky

Congrats to all our hard working students that made the honor roll list and we hope to see even more on the list for the spring semester!
