Principal's Message

Summer is just around the corner and we are looking forward to celebrating the end of another successful school year. This is highlighted by BlueSky's graduation ceremony, which will be held Saturday, June 10th at St. Paul College. Counselors are also in the process of scheduling students for the 2017-18 school year. The course catalog can be viewed on our website and students are encouraged to contact their counselor to select the courses and scheduling option that best fits their college and career aspirations.

We are excited to announce that we will be switching to a new student information system, PowerSchool, for the 2017-18 school year. This will allow us to operate more efficiently and continue to meet state requirements. Parents will use the new system to complete annual forms and monitor student progress. Students will continue to have the same classroom experience through our Moodle learning management system. More information about the change will be shared with parents and students prior to the end of the school year.

As a Minnesota public charter school, BlueSky is required to have a board of directors consisting of parents, community members and teachers. Members of the board are elected for two year terms and elections are held each spring. Parents are encouraged to participate in the election via electronic ballot which will be sent out the first week of May.

Each year we conduct student and parent satisfaction surveys as part of our continuous improvement process and our AdvancED accreditation. These surveys provide important feedback that is used to guide decision making at BlueSky and we encourage all parents and students to participate in this valuable process. Surveys will be sent out via email during the second week in May.

Did you know that many students and parents hear about BlueSky through word of mouth? If you know someone that is looking for another school setting, please let them know about BlueSky and share your story. We are now accepting enrollments for the 2017-18 school year.

Dan Ondich,
Assistant Director, High School Principal

BlueSky Stars

The BlueSky advisors have chosen to recognize these students for their hard work and dedication:

Kylie Herz-McCarthy says, "I like BlueSky because it's given me the opportunity to get ahead in my classes which will make it possible to graduate earlier and take college courses. Another thing I like about BlueSky is it gives me the drive I need and independence. The teachers are all very helpful and understanding. My plans for the future is to become an OB/GYN doctor."
- nominated by Jill Baldwin

"Caroline Aili is a new student this year and has thrived in online learning through her hard work, dedication to her studies, and ability to be flexible. Caroline is able to balance school and her love of horses as she devotes time to both her studies and work with her horse, Remi. She has also allowed herself time to travel by working ahead in courses to stay on track."

Schedule Your Classes

Today is the last day to select your classes for the 2017-18 school year! Students have received an email from their counselors with a link to register for classes.

Prep for ACT

For any students who might be taking the ACT this spring, or those that want to get a jump start for next year, the Math Department is providing you with a helpful resource. Visit the ACT website for test tips and practice questions (in Math and other subjects). Good luck in your college pursuits.

Save the Date for Prom

BlueSky will be joining forces with Cyber Village Academy again this year in hosting Prom for students in grades 9-12 and their guests.

Prom is Friday, May 5th from 8-11 pm and will be held at Midpointe Event Center in St. Paul. The theme this year is Masquerade Ball - so add a mask on top of whatever you plan to wear.

There is no cost to attend. Please fill out the RSVP Form if you plan to attend so we can plan accordingly.

Please contact Megan Hollenkamp at mhollenkamp@blueskyschool.org if you have any questions or would like to help out.

Summer Job Opportunity

The Syngenta Seeds Research facility in Stanton is now hiring summer positions for those 14 years or older. Jobs include working outside in fields and pollination and start at $9.75/hour plus an end of season bonus. Free busing provided from Cannon Falls, Northfield, Faribault, Hastings, and Randolph. Graduation

The end of the school year is almost here, which means Graduation isn't far behind. Along with any students that have graduated throughout the 2016-17 school year, potential spring graduates and their guardians have received detailed information about the ceremony and an RSVP link via email. If you aren't sure if you are a potential graduate or not, reach out to your counselor.
