BlueSky Support Groups

BlueSky offers the unique opportunity for our students to access support while earning academic credit!

We offer a variety of support groups that students are able to be a part of in place of one of their 6 courses. Upon successful completion of the small group requirements, students will earn .5 elective credit towards graduation. Each small group is facilitated by a licensed school social worker and will enable students to acquire skills in different life areas.

Adolescents Attacking Anxiety

This small group support group designed for students who struggle with anxiety on a daily basis, are looking for coping skills to help them deal with it, and are willing to talk about it.
1. Do you struggle with anxiety on a daily basis?
2. Are you serious about learning ways to manage or cope with your anxiety?
3. Are you able to talk about your anxiety?

Healing and Dealing

Healing and Dealing is a support group for teenagers who have experiences a loss in their life. The group will work through the different stages of grief, share their stories with one another, and be a place of support.
1. Have you experienced a loss in your life?
2. Has this loss caused you to have struggles in your daily living?
3. Are you willing to talk with your peers about this loss and the struggles this has created for you?

Independent Living
Independent Living is a support group that focuses on teaching teenagers life skills to live on their own. Topics discussed include filling out a job application, balancing a checkbook, creating and following a budget and caring for a home.
1. Do you struggle knowing how to fill out a job application?
2. Do you want to know how to live in the real world on your own?

Mind Over Mood

Mind Over Mood is a support group to help you learn new skills to make changes in your moods, behaviors and relationships. The skills are designed to help you handle stress better, improve your self-esteem, improve relationships, and become less fearful and more confident.
1. Do you struggle with feeling down, depressed, having negative thoughts about life sometimes or have trouble relaxing?
2. Are you interested in exploring new ways to change your moods and/or negative thoughts?
3. Are you comfortable having live and/or threaded discussions within a group?

The Real You

The Real You is a support group designed for young woman making their way through life! The group will explore topics such as self-confidence, self-esteem, building and maintaining healthy relationships, addressing body image needs and concerns and ultimately helping students become self-aware so they can make healthy choices and decisions.
1. Are you a young woman who wishes to learn more about who are you?
2. Are you willing to participate in threaded discussions and virtual activities with your peers?

Tools for Success

Tools for Success is a support group for students that focuses on increasing students' success by encouraging more responsible behavior. The goal is to create greater personal achievement. Topics covered include problem solving, procrastination and self acceptance.
1. Do you desire to be a more responsible person?
2. Do you want to learn about positive and negative consequences of your actions?

Who Am I?

Who Am I is a small group that will explore many different topics, including your personal values, family, relationships/friendships, culture, ethnicity, gender identity, violence and harassment, spirituality/religion, assumptions/stereotypes, societal beliefs, community, and personal goals/dreams.
1. The group asks you to share your thoughts and opinions with others in the group. Are you comfortable doing this while maintaining a level of respect for everyone in the group?
2. Are you willing to participate in live discussions?
