Blue Sky Fit Club is an introductory, lower level physical education class. The focus is on learning basic fitness and nutrition concepts. Assignments are comprehensive but not highly detailed. Students are required to participate in 3-5 sessions of physical fitness each week , lasting at least 20-40 minutes per session. Proof of physical activity and participation in a weekly fitness challenge is required.

Topics covered in Health 2 include: nutrition, physical fitness, disease prevention, depression and suicide prevention, human growth and development, and alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention. Students are required to participate in four ClassLive discussions per quarter.

This course is for students who are parents or who are interested in learning about the importance of a healthy lifestyle for children. Students will look at the rising risks of childhood obesity and what they can do as an adult to incorporate nutrition and fitness into kids’ lives. Students will also learn about fitness and nutrition during and following pregnancy, family dynamics and mental health. The impact that drug use can have on children, safety in the early years and games and activities that can be played with children as they grow will also be discussed in the class. Semester 1 only.

Healthy Life Choices is a class for those interested in learning about the following topics, including but not limited to: goal setting, personal characteristics (humor, courage, assertiveness, integrity, imagination, responsibility), caring for the elderly, caring for children, preventing disease, exercise, eating healthy and the affects of drugs and alcohol.

This is an entry-level course for the student that is interested in pursuing a career in health care. Topics covered will provide basic knowledge needed for all workers in the health care setting. Along with weekly assignments, students will also participate in at least three conference calls with health care professionals. These professionals will discuss their education, profession and the strengths and challenges of working in the health field. Topics covered will include: professionalism, medical terminology,safey precautions, first aid and CPR, disease prevention, communication, and employment. Semester 2 only.

Outdoor Physical Education is a class for students interested in exploring non-traditional physical education activities that are not usually offered in a traditional setting, including gardening, snowboarding, downhill/cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, rock climbing, skateboarding, orienteering, disc golf, tennis, biking, and geocaching. Students are required to participate in 3-5 sessions of physical fitness each week, lasting at least 20-40 minutes per session. Semester 2 only.

Physical Education for the Athlete focuses on the individual athlete and their chosen activity or sport. This class is intended for the serious athlete who is concentrating on a specific sport or activity, such as speed skating, dance, motorcross, boxing, or martial arts. Athletes are required to participate in 3-5 sessions of physical fitness each week, lasting at least 20-40 minutes per session. Proof of physical activity is required. Semester 1 only.

Strength Training is intended for students who are interested in setting individual strength and fitness goals for themselves. Students will use resistance bands, free weight, body weight, and weight machine exercises. Students will be required to participate in 3-5 sessions of physical fitness each week, lasting at least 20-40 minutes per session. Proof of physical activity and participation in a weekly fitness challenge is required. Semester 2 only.
