I’m Carla, and I’m excited to be a school counselor for the Blue Sky Charter School Student Services Team.  I truly believe that Life Is GoodJ

My family growing up is from Minnesota, but we moved around a lot when I was a kid.  (I’d had 11 different addresses by the time I was 10 years old!)  But we finally settled in Foley, Minnesota, which is where I call home.  While attending college at St. Cloud State University, I met my husband.  We have two great children:  a daughter, 19, a junior at Winona State University; a son, 13, in 8th grade.  Much of my summer is spent at the pool, lake or river—I love being in and near water!  Canoeing and camping are great times for us as a family.  I also enjoy puttering around in my flower garden and reading great fiction on my patio.

I’m a school counselor, but I’ve spent a lot of time as an English teacher.  I taught in Kimball, Minnesota; Anamoose, North Dakota; and Austin, Minnesota before joining up with Blue Sky.  The best job I’ve had so far was working in the Area Learning Center in Austin.  I loved my students there!  They inspired me to get my school counseling degree from Winona State University.

My motto comes from one of my favorite movies, My Big Fat Greek Wedding: Don’t let the past dictate who you are, but let it be part of who you will become.

I’m looking forward to a new adventure with Blue Skies smiling on me!
