"I have two sons that attend BlueSky Charter School. [One:] will be graduating from high school this spring. [My other son:] His special education teacher at BlueSky is helping me prepare him to move back into the main stream...."
I have two sons that attend BlueSky Charter School. One of my sons was unable to attend school his senior in the public school because of anxiety problems and the school did nothing to help us. I really think that they were happy to see us leave…one less problem for them. It was a terrible time for us and I could not afford to home school him. His school did not let us know that online charter school was an option for completing classes and it took me five months to find this option on my own. He is now enrolled in BlueSky and he will be graduating from high school this spring; one year late. If not for BlueSky, my son would not be graduating from high school at all and his life would be on hold or even worse. My other son has ADHD and problems sleeping. He has problems getting up in the morning and he cannot concentrate if he doesn’t have complete silence. We have not been able to find any medication that works for this. I hope to move him back to traditional school next year because I think he needs the social interaction. His special education teacher at BlueSky is helping me prepare him to move back into the main stream. I think that School Districts should be required to let the parents of kids who are having problems know all of the options that are open to them and their children for completing their coursework. Each child is different and no one formula works for every student. Joanne |
