Hanson, Margo - Science Print E-mail

Hello!  My name is Margo Hanson.

I am new to BlueSky School and will be teaching Biology this year.

I live in Plymouth, but in my mind, I live “up north.”  I grew up on John Denver music and went to college with Dan Fogelberg’s music.  I lived in Colorado for a while and while the Rocky Mountains are truly amazing, Minnesota is better because we have lakes.  Some of my most beautiful memories are from when I was a guide at LakeTrails, a canoe base camp up on Lake of the Woods.  Friends, trees, birds, rocks, and water… what could be better?

I earned my biology degree at St. Cloud State University and I’ve taught in junior high, middle, and high schools.  I love to be surrounded by nature, and to learn about trees, plants, birds, animals, water, rocks, and the geologic processes that made our landscapes.   Besides being licensed in Biology 7-12, I am soon-to-be-licensed in Middle School Science.  I also have my Master’s degree in Special Education, EBD, from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul.  I’ve taught or re-taught every subject in the middle and high schools, and began a program in Chaska at the Carver-Scott Educational Cooperative called the Passage Program.

Trivia about me: I am the youngest, my real name is Margaret Mary Therese, I was supposed to be born on Leap Day, and am partial to even numbers.  I love Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, because they use the best voices on TV.

I feel blessed to be a teacher.  The thing I like best about teaching is helping students “get it” so they feel successful.  So, let me know if I can help.  Everyone here at BlueSky School is eager to see you succeed!

Our family loves camping and exploring in Minnesota State Parks together. This photo is from Itasca a couple of years ago. My husband is Harley, and my children are Anna, Valerie, and Jeff.  We also have fish and a dog named Casey.
