Kyra Kirk is a licensed 7-12 Social Studies Teacher. 
Hi! My name is Kyra Kirk and I started teaching at BlueSky in January 2008! I am very excited to be your teacher and I hope we build a great relationship throughout this class. Since we are not able to meet “in person”, I would like to give you some information about me. I have been a teacher for 14 years, and have taught a variety of subjects in many different grade levels. My goals are for you to enjoy my class, to find my class challenging and interesting, and for you to be able to share concerns or struggles with me as they arise. I am a single mom with two children. My son is 21 years old, and he struggled in school, but did graduate. I wish I could tell you that everything has “worked out” for him, but he continues to struggle to find his path in life. I am there to offer support when he needs it. My daughter is 10, and school goes much better for her. She has quite an “attitude” and thinks she knows more than I do. My response to that is “WHATEVER!!!” I am a single mom because my husband passed away almost two years ago now. He had brain cancer for 12 years. It was a tough illness – on all of us. What I learned by going through that struggle with cancer and losing a loved one is to take things “one day at a time.” Yes, I know it is a phrase that is probably overused, but it was one of the ways that helped me cope with unbearable circumstances. I enjoy doing many things when I am not teaching. Those things include: gardening, riding (on the back of) my boyfriend’s Harley, boating, fishing, golfing, and being around friends and family. I love animals, but pets have not really worked out for our family so far. I could tell you many stories about hamsters (some we still haven’t found in our house and probably never will…) and other stories about how well they multiply!!! We have tried fish, guinea pigs, dogs…maybe someday it will work for us. For right now we just love other people’s pets when we get the chance. As your teacher I will do as much as I can to help make you successful at BlueSky and beyond...I am here to help you reach your goals. Good Luck!!! |
