Carrie Schlicht is a licensed 5-12 Communication Arts & Literature Teacher.
Hello! My name is Carrie Schlicht – a new addition to the BlueSky staff and to the English department. I live in Walker, Minnesota, with my husband Bryan. We love living in the “North Woods” and enjoy spending time out on the boat (Walker is located on Leech Lake.), camping, rock climbing, traveling and other outdoor recreational activities. (Lake time is definitely our favorite, though.) I personally enjoy running, reading, writing, shopping with friends and having conversations over cups of good coffee.

I grew up in northwestern Iowa on a farm, but spent several weeks each summer in the Longville and Walker areas at my grandparents’ cabin. Incidentally, when my parents sold the family farm about six years ago and moved up to Walker to start a non-profit ministry, it felt just like home. Several years later, I met Bryan, who is originally from the Brainerd area, and the rest, as they say, is history. It’s great to live and work in such a beautiful, fun area, and still be close to family. My brother, who is two years younger than I, lives and works out in Portland, Oregon, as a resident director at Concordia University. We, too, are close, but Portland is a fun place to visit and he makes it home for Christmas and during the summer, so we can still keep up with each other pretty well.

My mom and me -She has been a tremendous mentor to me as she taught high school English for 25 years! (She was actually my English teacher!)
I earned my undergraduate degree in English Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, and my Masters Degree in English from Bemidji State University. I graduated from BSU this past May; actually, it was quite an adventure both teaching and attending school at the same time. Students, I know where you’re coming from! Being a student, in and of itself, is a full-time job! I do love both teaching and learning, though, and am anxious to begin this new phase of my educational career: on-line education!
I look forward to getting to know the staff at BlueSky as well as the students and their parents.
