Shealy, Anthony - Special Education & Social Studies Teacher Print E-mail

Anthony Shealy is a licensed K-12 Learning Disabilities Teacher & 7-12 Social Studies Teacher.

I grew up in the beautiful river town of Winona, MN. Growing up in Winona provided me the opportunity to go fishing anytime I wanted. I was never more than a few minutes walk or bike ride from Lake Winona, the Mississippi River, or countless other secret fishing holes that boys find while exploring. I graduated from Winona Senior High school in 1987. Those of you quick in math can guesstimate my age.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree on November 15, 1991 from Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota.  I entered the field of education because of a love of working with students as well as because of a love for the subject areas of Social Studies. I have since earned a certificate in gifted, talented, and creative education and a license in Special Education for learning disabilities from the University of St. Thomas. I have worked in districts of all sizes and demographics.  I student taught in a rural high school in Eyota, MN, suburban schools in Bloomington, Lakeville, and Richfield, and a large urban district, Ysleta ISD, in El Paso, TX. My first work experience was at Indian Ridge Middle School in the Ysleta Independent School District as a history teacher and since then I have taught grades 6-12 in a variety of settings.

ImageLast but certainly not least, I married my wife, Andrea, in 1991. We moved to El Paso, TX in 1992 because she was in the active military. She was a combat officer in a Patriot Missile Battery, eventually serving in both Saudi Arabia and South Korea. We since have brought three daughters into this world: Cassie, Katie, and Kiralynn. Their ages are 11, 9, and under a year respectively. The older girls have helped a lot with their little sister, and although I am heavily outnumbered, I love them all dearly, even when there is no hot water left.I look forward to helping the students of Bluesky achieve their goal of graduating from high school and moving on to bigger and better things.
