Leah Sickmann is a licensed 7-12 Life Sciences Teacher & 5-9 Science Teacher.
My name is Leah Sickmann. I teach Earth science and Life Science. I previously taught in Blue Earth Minnesota for 6 years and 1 year at Owatonna high school. I started at Blue Sky in September 2006. I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1995 with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science. I worked for a year on a farrowing (pig) farm near Clarkfield. I then decided to go back to school to become a teacher. I received a Masters in the Arts of Teaching in 1999 from Mankato State University. I had a lot of support as my dad, brother-in law and sister-in-law are all teachers. My dad taught 7th and 8th grade science for 30 years. I guess teaching is in my blood. I’ve been teaching for 9 years. I love explaining concepts to students and seeing the look in their eyes when I see that they understand. I’ve had to learn to adapt to online teaching but really love the format. I was married in 1999 to an all around great guy named Jason. We have a daughter (4) and 2 sons Logan (2) and Parker (8 months). We also have two loving golden retrievers named Rusty and Tucker. We live in Cloquet which fits our outside interests perfectly. I like to hunt, fish, camp, ski, garden and bike. Probably my favorite outside place is the Boundary Waters. There’s something to be said for the peace and quiet that can be found there. Now I have to rely on listening to my students to “see” if they understand. Contact Information: Cell 218-349-3980
