Sarah McFarland is a licensed 5-12 Communication Arts/Literature Teacher.

This begins my third year at BlueSky and I have taught a wide range of classes in my time here so far. This year I will be teaching English 12 and helping out in a variety of other areas as well. I love teaching! And BlueSky’s such a great place to be! A little bit about me… I am married to my favorite person in the whole world, Jim, and have two awesome kids, Jaeden and Connor. My husband and I met in Alaska while working at a salmon cannery where we went back several years in a row. This past summer, I was able to work in another fishery with some friends again. It was great! I love working there!! I love to read (I read ALL the time!). My favorite books are Mists of Avalon, Dune, The Secret Life of Bees and The Fountainhead. I am working on writing my first novel and have submitted three children’s books for publication (cross your fingers!). I enjoy fiddling around with photography and am using a picture from the U of M campus as a starting point for a book of short stories (once I get some of the other projects out of the way). I also love music and my husband and I go to shows as often as we can get a sitter. Some of my favorite bands are Dillinger Four, Tilt, NOFX, Dropkick Murphy’s, The Muffs, Screeching Weasel, The Reverend Horton Heat and Davina & the Vagabonds…kind of a mixed bag there, I guess. I love being outside with my family, going camping, fishing and just enjoying the Minnesota seasons. I think that’s about it! Have a great year!
