Darla Erickson is a licensed K-12 Band Teacher, K-12 Emotional Behavior Disorders Teacher, 5-12 Learning Disabilities Teacher, & 5-12 Classroom Music Teacher. Hello, my name is Darla Erickson, and this is my second year as a special education teacher at BlueSky. My educational background is a little unique. My first major was music education which I received a BA from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Five years ago, I decided to go back to college and major in special education. Yes and still work full-time. I completed the EBD and LD special education licensures at Minnesota State University – Mankato. I did both of these programs as an online learner. I have had two teaching positions before BlueSky as a band director and music teacher in Waterville-Elysian/Morristown and Kingsland for a total of seventeen years. During the last three years at Kingsland, I worked in both the music and special education areas. 
My daughter, Whitney, our big dog, Cody, and myself live in a small southeastern Minnesota town almost on the Iowa border but close to Rochester. We are able to enjoy a small town atmosphere but get the culture of the city if we want. I enjoy my walks with Cody, spending time with family, listening to music, and going to a concert or movie. I am very excited to be starting a new school year and am looking forward to getting to know you as you continue your educational journey. |
