BlueSky, a Minnesota public charter school, serves students in grades 7 through 12 with a state-approved online middle school and high school diploma program. Certified teachers provide individual attention, close supervision, ongoing instruction, and professional encouragement and support for learning in this innovative program. The Online Learning Environment is Ideal for a Variety of Students Students and their families come to BlueSky for many different reasons. Some students want more of a challenge; others want to study in ways that are more effective for them personally. Certain families prefer to have their children's formal education in a home-based environment. For young adults, the convenience of an online program is important because it allows them to continue an education while working or caring for a family. Others appreciate a flexible program that encourages students to take advantage of opportunities to travel or participate in athletics and the arts. These are only a few of the possible reasons that young adults, parents and youth choose BlueSky. Bluesky is Flexible and Convenient With access to learning resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, students are free to work during their most productive learning hours conveniently from home. Students Can Choose From Many Different Curriculum Resources BlueSky uses a variety of curriculum resources including unique courses developed by experienced online educators that emphasize writing skills and critical thinking, student -designed project learning and service learning experiences, group learning opportunities, and content-rich commercially produced courses. We are continually developing new resources so that we may broaden and deepen our course offerings and approaches to online learning. All curriculum resources have been developed to meet the latest Minnesota Academic Standards. The Program is Individualized and Fully Interactive Students, staff and parents work together to select a program that works best for each individual's learning style, skill level, grade level and credit requirements. The program can be tailored to each student in a unique manner, responding to specific interests, constraints, and personal needs. Students communicate many times each week with instructors, community experts, and other students via e-mail and threaded discussions. |
