Where do you live?

I live in Elk River with my family, which includes my husband and three young sons. We have two cats and one dog, which makes for a busy household.

Why did you become a teacher?

Teaching was a very natural fit for me and is what I have always felt comfortable doing. I started working at the age of 15 teaching swimming lessons, and every job I have had since then has been working with children. I enjoy working with all types of students and find the challenge of helping them to succeed very rewarding. I have had a lot of good teachers and coaches in my life and I know first hand what a profound impact an adult can have on a young person’s life. I am a teacher because I love watching people reach their potential.

Why did you choose BlueSky?

I saw BlueSky as a school that offers something very unique to students in Minnesota.  Online learning is an important option for people to obtain a high school diploma.  I was interested in a new challenge where not only I could teach, but learn a lot myself.  The chance to work from home while being creative in my teaching was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

What do you think makes BlueSky special?

We provide online education like no other school in the state or country. I am proud to work with such a dynamic staff that really cares about kids. BlueSky offers a flexible learning environment that allows learning to be a priority.

What do you like to do when you’re not teaching?

I grew up in Wisconsin where I developed great love for the outdoors. Camping, traveling, reading and playing piano are a few of my favorite things. I swam competitively through college and still enjoy being active. I also love to bake and spend time with my family.

If there were one thing you could tell people about BlueSky, what would it be?

BlueSky is a school where you can get a quality education on your terms.
