Where do you live?

I live in Howard Lake on 108 acres with my fiance and two children. We rent out most of the land to another farmer. I have four children. My oldest two have graduated and are off at college. My daughter is at Winona State University and my son is attending Jamestown College in North Dakota. I have a 14-year-old and a 9-year-old at home. We have 5 Belgian horses, 2 Quarter horses and one Morgan. Along with the horses we have two goats, four barn cats and three dogs.

We are constantly striving to do what is best for our students.

Why did you become a teacher?

I became a teacher because of my love of learning and my desire to help young people feel that same passion. I chose the area of special education as my area of specialty.

Why did you choose BlueSky?

After 14 years in the traditional school setting, I was looking for a school that would allow its teachers the opportunity to be creative with their teaching. I wanted to have time to reach my students and not just concentrate on the curriculum of the class.

What do you think makes BlueSky special?

BlueSky is a school that truly values its students and what they need. We are constantly striving to do what is best for our students.

What do you like to do when you’re not teaching?

When I am not teaching at BlueSky, I am kept busy with my children and their activities. My 14-year-old son plays hockey and soccer. That involves much time in the car driving to and from practices and games. My 9-year-old daughter enjoys showing her Quarter horse during the summer. The time I have left after those activities is spent riding my own Quarter horse and working on breaking the Morgan I have just purchased, as well as reading, which is a passion of mine.

If there were one thing you could tell people about BlueSky, what would it be?

BlueSky looks at its students and families on an individual basis not as a large group.
