Language Arts Teacher
Where do you live?
I live in Elbow Lake with my husband, three children, and pet rabbit. I enjoy small-town life and like living in Northwest Minnesota.
Why did you become a teacher?
Since third grade, I have wanted to become a teacher, and my high school English teacher really encouraged me to pursue that goal.
I love the one-on-one attention I can give my students and the fact that I'm able to tailor my assignments to meet individual needs.
Why did you choose BlueSky?
I chose BlueSky because I believe technology is the future of education. What better place to work with cutting edge technology than an online school? It also gives me the flexibility to be there when my family needs me and yet reach out to young people as their teacher and mentor.
What do you think makes BlueSky special?
BlueSky embodies all of the characteristics of a quality school. I love the one-on-one attention I can give my students and the fact that I'm able to tailor my assignments to meet individual needs. Open communication with students is also a special part of BlueSky.
What do you like to do when you're not teaching?
Spending time with my family is high on my priority list, but I also like to sew, scrapbook, read, and do home repair. I love tearing apart and fixing our old house! For Christmas one year I got a router, bits, miter saw, and even a pipe wrench. Boy, was I excited! My family also likes to go geocaching. Hiking all over Minnesota in search of hidden treasure is what we call a good time. Watch out for poison ivy, though.
If there were one thing you could tell people about BlueSky, what would it be?
The quality teachers truly make BlueSky great. I've never worked with a more compassionate and energetic group of professionals before.
