Where do you live?
I live in the St Cloud area with my husband and our two children, Tyler and Dylan.
Why did you become a school social worker?
I became a school social worker because I really enjoy the academic setting and being able to have one-to-one interactions with students. I know that life is not always a smooth, straight road but is a curvy, bumpy path. Sometime when we hit those bumps or curves we need a little extra support. I had a great support person for when I hit those bumps and curves, and I developed a passion for supporting others.
It’s never too late to go back to school to get your high school diploma!
Why did you choose BlueSky?
The online world of learning has excited me since I took a few online courses myself. When I discovered an online high school that also provides social work support to students, I was hooked! I believe that BlueSky is key in achieving a high school diploma for students whose life situations require a less traditional approach.
What do you think makes BlueSky special?
BlueSky really looks at each student individually to make the high school years successful years for all. The staff is an amazing support system for students and is very caring and understanding about individual student needs. Students are not just a number or another face in class, but are an individual with a unique story and unique life situations. BlueSky can adapt to many, many life situations to make school a part of and a priority for our students.
What do you like to do when you’re not working at BlueSky?
In my free time, I enjoy playing with my kids, baking and gardening, and great coffee.
If there were one thing you could tell people about BlueSky, what would it be?
BlueSky is a free, charter school open to any student in Minnesota grades 7-12 and up to age 21. It’s never too late to go back to school to get your high school diploma!
