Where do you live?

I live on very sacred land on the Mississippi River in Wabasha County. I am honored to continue to take care of the land and keep it in its natural state. My favorite pasttime is to sit in the woods and just listen. I'm married with 4 bonus adult children and six grandchildren. I have an amazing husband who is my best friend and helps take care of our three dogs, cat, birds, chickens, and house. Homegrown music fills our house every day.

It's very exciting to be on the cutting edge of education at a school that allows people to be individuals, and not be part of an assembly-line educational system.

Why did you become an educator?

My experience as a student was less than favorable. I understand never feeling like you belong. So learning was secondary to me. At BlueSky Online students are valued for who they are! Leading in a school that specifically honors each student as a person with a unique life is the only place I want to be as an educator.

Why did you choose BlueSky?

I'm a very untraditional person. This is the perfect setting for all unique people and is the future of education. It's very exciting to be on the cutting edge of education at a school that allows people to be individuals, rather than part of an assembly-line educational system.

What do you think makes BlueSky special?

BlueSky School is fantastic and allows students to become self-disciplined in their own rhythm! I am passionate about the exceptional students that we have. Each student has a life story that brought them to BlueSky. Our students have already developed resilience in very diverse situations. I honor the experience of all of our students, which is well beyond that of their “average” peers.

What do you like to do when you're not working at BlueSky?

My hobbies include biking, rescuing animals, non-motorized water sports, hiking, skiing, developing new art with lots of materials, home improvement projects, motorcycling, traveling, non-fiction books, urban sustainable living, farming, and any other new adventures that happen to come along.

If there were one thing you could tell people about BlueSky, what would it be?

BlueSky is a safe place to gain an education, one that respects all students and their abilities.

My career background has been diverse. I have worked in business, human services, and schools. My favorite job is working with young adults, and creating teams that passionately care about students.
