Suzanne FinbraatenWhere do you live?
I live on a farm in Adams, Minnesota, with my two kids and two adopted pups. My husband died a while ago when my kids were 5 and 6, but they are resilient and life is still pretty cool. We have a great porch and an amazing view of cattle grazing across the creek, eagles flying and hay and crops growing everywhere.
Why did you become a teacher?
I became a counselor after teaching high school English in El Salvador during their civil war. The students went through such incredible situations that I felt that I needed to be better trained in areas other than academics. I also totally love getting kids into some sort of program/college after they finish high school.
Why did you choose BlueSky?
I chose Blue Sky because I needed the challenge and hoped to work with a diverse population throughout Minnesota.
What do you think makes BlueSky special?
Our teachers, our administration and our brilliant outlook on life makes us special. Our curriculum is also extremely stellar.
What do you like to do when you’re not teaching working at BlueSky?
I love watching my kids – they are incredible! I love playing piano and singing pretty much anything and I adore traveling anywhere I possibly can.
If there were one thing you could tell people about BlueSky, what would it be?
We are here for those who need a positive infusion in educational pursuits and the love of learning.
